The X-ATH-11TC Order Buckler was an experimental heavy-class armored trooper used by the Church of Marteal in Astragius Year 7247. It was a customized version of the X-ATH-11 Erdspinne and intended for use by Nextants – cyborgs whose “auxiliary brains” allowed for combat performance exceeded that of the Perfect Soldiers developed at the end of Hundred Years War three decades earlier. The Order Buckler utilized a different head than the Erdspinne and was armed with arm punches, a harpoon launcher, a pile bunker and a rifle. The Order Buckler was piloted by Titania Montwells, the prototype Nextant who held the rank “Shield of Order” within the Church (and was also the daughter of the newly elected Pope Viachesrav Montwells). Titania used the Order Buckler effectively in combat against the awakened natural Perfect Soldier Chirico Cuvie, who was considered “untouchable” by Church dogma. Ultimately, Chirico defeated Titania by shooting her auxiliary brain, and she later piloted a standard Erdspinne.
