Xabungle Ep. 17: Performers in a Do-or-Die Concert

0
Summary

Blume and Elchi argue over which way to aim the ship. Elchi and Rag argue over the Innocent and the Iron Gear ends up crashing into some rocks, causing mud to start flowing in. Genna goes to see Horla and Geraba, who are practicing sword fighting. He tells them the Iron Gear is stranded and now is a good time to attack. He asks Horla to lead them to the Holy Land if they win, and he’ll kill him if he’s lying. Horla agrees. After Genna leaves Horla tells Geraba they’ll exterminate the Hanawan afterwards. Genna heads back to the cave, dedicated to bringing the Hanawan outside. He orders his forces to seize the book from the Iron Gear and kill all but the women. A large force of Hanawans head out. One of the women thinks they will be cursed. Muuna tries to stop Genna from going, to no avail. She heads out on a separate craft, hoping to board the Iron Gear before the men arrive. Meanwhile repairs are being made on the Iron Gear. Plopopieff complains about it since his dancers are practicing. Muuna and two of the other Hanawan women head into the Iron Gear via one of the holes in the ship. Chill announces their arrival on the loudspeaker causing Fatman and the Sand Rats to head inside. Dyke shoots one of the women but Muuna says they are there to talk. She takes off her mask, revealing herself. She tells Jiron she has come to kill him, to see if he’s the real enemy. Jiron thinks she won’t be able to shoot and walks up closer to her. She collapses and asks how he can always be so comforting. Rag and Elchi ask what has gone on with him and her. Muuna warns them of the upcoming attack. Plopopieff praises her actions and talks about doing a play based on her story. Jiron tells him to write a play about Muuna having been taken as a hostage. Meanwhile a large amount of Hanawan approach, under the mud. One of them sees Muuna up on the deck. Blume blasts a float into the mud. Kotsett, wearing a devil mask, announces they have Muuna captured and to come and get her as they will do bad things to her. Genna now wants to stop the attack, but Horla says he is going to do so anyway. On his ship, Horla says they’ll attack soon and looks forward to what happens next. On the Iron Gear, they start whipping Muuna.

Missiles start coming towards the Iron Gear and it starts firing back. Jiron brings Muuna back into the bridge and decides to bring her downstairs. Elchi complains about Rag’s usage of the guns. Genna and many other Hanawan make their way into the ship but are quickly trapped by closing doors. Genna is dedicated to getting Muuna out and approaches a room where he is able to see Fatman and Kotsett pretending to whip Muuna. He blasts a hole through the wall to get in and quickly takes out Kotsett and Fatman. Muuna thanks him for saving her and he says he’ll get her out. She tells him those on this ship are not the enemy and to look at her body, that she doesn’t have any wounds. It was all an act to ensure he came here. He asks Muuna if she has betrayed him. Jiron and Elchi come in and shoot off his gun. Elchi asks him if he really thinks Horla will reveal the location of the Holy Land, and he’s just a lowly Breaker who may be an Innocent instigator. Jiron continues to deny they have the book he is thinking of and Muuna agrees. Jiron threatens to hurt Muuna for real and says he’ll use her and him to force the Hanawan to pull away. Genna asks what type of things he’ll do if they don’t, getting Jiron frustrated so he starts punching Genna over and over again. Elchi pulls Jiron off him. Genna says he understands him now and he can be a hero. He says the Hanawan can’t attack them. Suddenly, the Iron Gear is struck. Genna thinks it is Horla. Muuna says Horla wouldn’t attack if he really cared about them. Horla’s forces get several strikes on the Iron Gear. The Hanawan ask him not to attack since Genna is on the ship. Geraba says Genna must already be dead. Jiron heads out on the Xabungle, riding a hovercraft and quickly takes out several Walker Machines in the mud. Horla heads out on his Galabagos. Rag heads out on the second Xabungle and transforms it into its humanoid form. Jiron is having trouble with both Horla and Geraba surrounding him in their Walker Machines. Rag’s Xabungle suddenly arrives and attacks. She is knocked back into the mud and Jiron heads after her, hoping to get a rifle. The Iron Gear is unable to move, still needing repairs. Suddenly some of Horla’s Walker Machines start getting taken out by the Hanawan. Horla and Geraba realize what’s happening and retreat. Later, Genna and Muuna watch as the Iron Gear departs. Genna asks if their Holy Land really exists and Muuna says yes. On the Iron Gear, Jiron works on more repairs. Plopopieff says he wants Kotsett to play a demon in another play again in the future, getting him angry.

Commentary

The three episode arc featuring the Hanawan and the mud sea comes to an end with Genna realizing that the Iron Gear isn’t bad after all. Of course being Xabungle, this had to take place only after some comedy, with the play and fake whipping of Muuna, plus a big breakdown by Jiron. Maybe one episode of the Hanawan would have been interesting, but three seemed a bit too much and I’m glad this part of the storyline has come to an end.
