Following the aftermath of Char’s Rebellion in UC 0093, the Earth Federation Forces Instructor Corps used captured Neo Zeon AMS-119 Geara Doga mobile suits in mock battles. Instructors praised the versatility of the Geara Doga and found it superior in some respects to the RGM series. The Instructor Corps desired further development of the Geara Doga, but to avoid infringing on Anaheim Electronics’ intellectual property, the Strategic Naval Research Institute (SNRI) contracted with Buffo Junk, Inc. in UC 0096 to copy three salvaged AMS-119S Geara Doga Custom units. These units were named Lehr Doga to indicate their use by the Instructor Corps. In UC 0106, units were upgraded with reactors from the AMX-011S Zaku III Custom, leading to higher generator output. The Lehr Doga’s legs shared about 50 percent of their parts with the RGM-89 Jegan for ease of maintenance. The backpack, waist armor and shoulder armor were all designed to be modular so that the parts could be substituted to simulate different enemy designs. During the Trimurti Incident of UC 0116, Charles Rochester piloted a unit that was further customized by using an AMX-014 Doven Wolf backpack, an AMX-107 Bawoo shield and sub-arms from the AMX-011 Zaku III. In UC 0120, Sid Amber and Def Stallion conducted test flights on SNRI’s new F90 Gundam F90. The Mars Zeon attacked during a test and stole Sid’s Unit 2. Afterward, Sid was assigned a Lehr Doga for use as an aggressor unit in tests with Def’s Unit 1.
