Originally developed by the Jupiter Empire for the invasion of Earth in UC 0133, the Elcopte didn’t see real combat until some three years later. This huge, 40-meter tall mobile armor was equipped with experimental beam rotor technology that gave it long-range atmospheric flight and mobile suit transport capacity. Though it reduced energy consumption, the Elcopte’s beam rotor required that an actual portion of its body make up part of the rotors, unlike the more refined models seen two decades later during the Zanscare War. Thus, the beam emitters were installed in the legs, which were not usually seen as combat-worthy by Jovian engineers. However, this meant that production costs went up as the design now required a variable frame for transformation. On top of all this, the Elcopte’s unusual design meant that it flipped completely over in order to change from its walker mode to its flight mode, which could be attributed to the Jovian mindset not giving any consideration to normal Earth gravity.
