Gundam 0083 Ep. 3: Into Battle, Albion

Kou returns to the ruins of the Torrington base. He speaks briefly to Sinapus and apologizes for taking the GP01. Sinapus asks his opinion of the GP01, and Kou says it is an excellent suit. On the bridge, Sinapus speaks to General John Cowen from Jaburo. Cowen orders Sinapus to launch the Albion as soon as possible and locate the GP02A to prevent usage of the nuclear warhead. Kou returns the GP01 to Nina and apologizes for not getting the GP02A back. Several Medea supply planes land, bringing new pilots and mobile suits. Three veteran pilots disembark from one of the planes: Alpha Bate, Chap Adel and drunken pervert Bernard Monsha. Monsha immediately begins hitting on whatever girls he can find. He takes a look at the GP01 and begins hitting on Nina, but he and his buddies are chased away by Maura. Nina runs the data of Kou’s battle in the Gundam and is amazed by the results. Kou and Keith visit Burning in the hospital, and he tells them not to worry about his injuries. Monsha, Bate, and Adel show up and talk to Burning. During the One Year War, they were all members of the 04th M.S. Team. Monsha says the GP01 pilot must be an idiot right in front of Kou. Burning explains it was his team that went after Gato, and he orders Kou and Keith to clean out Allen’s quarters. Kou and Keith enter the ruins of the barracks, and Nina follows them. Kou looks around Allen’s room and blames himself for not being good enough of a pilot to save him.

Out in the ocean the U-801 submarine heads for the Kimberlite diamond mines in Africa. Back at the Torrington base, Keith is shocked that Kou has volunteered for the GP02A recovery mission. They walk by Monsha, who starts asking Kou about his fight with Gato. He believes Kou hid until Gato got away, and Kou says he fought with the help of Burning and Nina. Nina shows up with Kou’s data and says he’s a good pilot. She says he pushed the GP01’s potential higher than expected for a rookie. Monsha says those skills don’t matter because the GP01 won’t be assigned to a rookie like Kou. He then challenges Kou to a fight: if Kou wins, Monsha will recommend him as the GP01’s pilot, and if Kou loses then he never gets near Monsha again. Kou foolishly agrees to try. Kou and Monsha head out with the GP01 and a GM Custom to duel in the ruins of the space colony. The first one to get hit with a paint ball in battle loses. Monsha seems to have the upper hand at first, keeping Kou on the defensive. Burning and Keith head to the battle in a jeep. Kou hides in the debris and chases Monsha inside the colony. While Kou walks around on the ground, Monsha hides above him and prepares to shoot. The floor crumbles beneath him, and Kou spots him. Monsha tries to shoot, but Kou creates a dust cloud with his verniers. Kou gets Monsha in a corner and slams him through a colony wall. He wins the battle, but Burning shows up and criticizes his stupid actions. Kou and Monsha are each given a week in solitary. Nina calls Anaheim and says she and Orville will be staying on the Albion. Sinapus asks Burning to take command of the mobile suit team on the Albion. Burning would have all authority over anything relating to the mobile suits or their pilots. Burning accepts, and the Albion takes off and heads for Africa.
