The MF-GS-54C Gunstaid was a heavy assault SPT developed by the Gradosian Empire. The base unit was lightly armed with knuckle shots and a lasered rifle, but its firepower could be boosted by mounting a specially designed backpack and leg armor. The backpack housed a bevy of armaments, including cannons, missile launchers, particle guns, a beam gun and a flamethrower. The optional leg armor included a pair of missile launchers. If the added armaments were damaged or depleted, the Gunstaid could eject them in the middle of battle and continue to function without them. With its wide-ranging armaments, the Gunstaid served the dual function of being both an anti-SPT and anti-personnel unit. In late 1999, Le Cain seized power by assassinating his father, Admiral Gresco. He deployed a Gunstaid squad to raze New York City so that he could build his own ideal city in its place. On December 30, Le Cain deployed Gunstaids to Peru’s Nazca Lines, where they clashed with the Earth Liberation Front’s new E-SPT-DL-X Doll.
