The MS-17R Galbaldy α High Mobility Type was a variation of the MS-17 Galbaldy α, a mobile suit produced by the Principality of Zeon late in the One Year War. Multiple Galbaldy α units were transferred to the Axis asteroid and underwent modification into the MS-17R. To improve mobility, the legs and backpack were replaced with the versions used by the MS-14BR Gelgoog R. The MS-17R’s armaments were sourced entirely from other mobile suits, including the beam saber and shield of the YMS-15 Gyan and the beam machine gun of the MS-14JG Gelgoog Jäger. In September UC 0084, one MS-17R was part of a Zeon team from Axis that returned to the Earth Sphere and engaged in combat with the Titans on the surface of the Moon.
