Mobile Suit Gundam is a novel series released in Japan from 1979-1981. Published by Asahi Sonorama, it is a novelization of the original Gundam TV series, written by franchise creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. The novels represent a major shift in storytelling from the TV series, featuring new characters, changed locations and reordered events with a radically different ending. The novels have been released in English in North America, first from Del Rey Books in 1990 and later a revised version in 2004 by Stone Bridge Press. The former is out of print, but the latter is still available.
