The MSJ-06II-ED Tieren Zhizhu was a special variant created to defend the Human Reform League’s orbital elevator. The Zhizhu could move on the carbon rails located on the surface of the elevator and received electrical power from the rails. The commander version of the suit had the standard commander type’s head, the same chest-mounted sensors as the MSJ-06II-LC Tieren Long-Range Cannon Type and a two seater cockpit. Besides defending the elevator, the suit was also used in the elevator’s maintenance. When moving on the carbon rails and/or carrying out maintenance work, the Zhizhu’s upper body was perpendicular to the rails. During combat, the suit’s upper body was parallel to the rails and this also meant that the suit’s back was close to the elevator’s wall, thus the Zhizhu did not have any protruding parts on its back like the other Tieren variants. The functions that these protruding parts had were moved to other parts of the suit. By fitting the suit with wheels, the Zhizhu could also be used on the ground, particularly the city at the base of the orbital elevator. On the city’s roads, the Zhizhu’s movement speed was superior to that of bipedal suits The city also had power plug for the suit, and although this limited the suit’s operating areas, it allowed the use of the high output linear cannon.

The carbon rails provided the Zhizhu with an endless supply of power, and its main weapon was a high output linear cannon that was not used by other Tieren variants. The cannon was highly rated for its rate of fire, muzzle velocity and long effective range. Although the suit’s movement range was restricted by the carbon rails, the rails dod provide a stable firing platform even when the suit was moving. A 30mm chain gun ha a high rate of fire and was mainly used for purposes like anti-air attacks. Besides the standard missiles, the missile pods could also fire beam disruptors (it could create a beam disruption/diffusion curtain) or other ammunitions, for a wide variety of use. After the suit was handed over to the Earth Sphere Federation, the missile pods could also be fitted with special missiles containing GN particles. Compared to the flight type mobile suits used to defend the other elevators, the Zhizhu had a better defense record and remained in use even after the formation of the ESF and the deployment of GN Drive-equipped suits. During a mock battle to show off the ability of the ESF to protect the orbital elevator, the Zhizhu managed to successfully hold at bay the attacking GNX-604T Advanced GN-X and ace pilot Amy Zimbalist.
