Martian Successor Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness is a feature film released in Japan in 1998. It is a sequel to the 1996 TV series Martian Successor Nadesico and the 1998 video game Martian Successor Nadesico: The Blank of Three Years. Tatsuo Sato returns as director and writer, leading a team that includes mechanical designers Mika Akitaka and Yasuhiro Moriki, character designer Keiji Gotoh and composer Takayuki Hattori. Three years have passed since the end of the TV series, and while the Earth and the Jovian Federation are at peace, a new threat arises from the Martian Successors. With Akito Tenkawa and Yurika Misumaru missing, it falls to Captain Ruri Hoshino to reassemble her old comrades on the new battleship Nadesico-C. The movie was initially released in North America by ADV Films, but it has since been re-released by Nozomi Entertainment.
