The RCX-76-01B Guncannon Firepower Test Type was a prototype mobile suit developed by Anaheim Electronics for the Earth Federation Forces. The RCX-76-01B was created to evaluate long-distance firepower options. In addition to the standard chest-mounted cockpit for the pilot, the RCX-76-01B featured a head cockpit for a gunner. The RCX-76-01B’s armaments included two large-caliber cannons, 60mm vulcan guns, a shield and a quadruple autocannon that replaced the right hand. Initial tests found that the large-caliber cannons had low accuracy and produced more recoil than the suit could withstand, so they were omitted from future designs. Anaheim also tested mobility in a sister unit, the RCX-76-01A Guncannon Mobility Test Type. Data collected from the evaluation units at Anaheim’s Von Braun factory on the Moon was incorporated into the development of the RCX-76-02 Guncannon First Type.
