In UC 0109, Anaheim Electronics rolled out the RGM-109 Heavygun, a general purpose mass production mobile suit for use by the Earth Federation Forces. However, the suit’s standard armaments were considered lacking, which led to the development of new optional weaponry for the Heavy Attack Type. The Heavygun’s mid-range attack power was improved through the addition of a pair of 4-barrel machine cannons, a 9-tube rocket launcher, a twin grenade launcher, a short barrel beam launcher and a double beam rifle. If necessary, the added weapons could be quickly ejected via explosive charges. The new weaponry came with some trade offs, including decreased mobility due to the added weight and the suit’s generator being unable to simultaneously power every beam weapon. The Heavy Attack Type would usually launch with the necessary added weapons rather than the full loadout. Only one prototype unit was produced, with no decision made on mass production.
