Having received a powerful shock from the all-range attacks of the Principality of Zeon’s Newtype mobile armors, the Earth Federation Forces developed the RGM-79ARA GM Juggler in order to carry out such attacks using their own technology. Since the EFF were far behind in their Newtype research and were unable to develop a psycommu system, they ultimately used existing machines to develop an imitation of the enemy’s guided remote attacks. Thus the “Newtype test” description attached to this machine was essentially a bluff. The RGM-79 GM was used as the base machine, and modified RB-79 Balls as attack units. With the gunner of this two-seater machine using laser communication to manually control the attack units, it could perform a makeshift imitation of the all-range attack. Since the base machine limited its movement while the attack units were in operation, it compensated with additional armor to raise its defensive strength. However, the fighting strength of its manually controlled all-range attack was far from satisfactory, and the mechanical balance of the base machine was also poor. Repeated improvements were made in an effort to overcome these flaws, and this difficult development process continued until the end of the war. A prototype version had yet to be completed by the time the war ended and the EFF obtained the latest psycommu technology. The so-called Juggler was now worthless, and its development is soon halted.
