The SPT-ZK-53U Zakaal was the custom personal unit of Admiral Gresco’s son, Le Cain. As befitting a member of the ruling class, the Zakaal was gold colored and decorated with an ornate crest on its left shoulder. The Zakaal’s armaments included a claw-like arm horn mounted on the left arm and a lasered rifle, but it also held a secret that not even Le Cain was aware of. Dr. Nizon, an SPT researcher, revealed to Le Cain that all next generation SPTs constructed since 1996 contained an experimental V-MAX system resembling the one pioneered in the SPT-LZ-00X Layzner. The feature was locked away by default due to the deaths of test pilots who were unable to control V-MAX. However, Le Cain proved in a combat simulator that he could easily master V-MAX and the additional “red power” super charge that boosted V-MAX an extra 15 percent. Thanks to the “red power,” Le Cain was able to inflict heavy damage on Layzner. On December 30, 1999, Le Cain headed into space to stop the Seal of Grados and fought Eiji Asuka’s E-SPT-LZ-00X-B New Layzner. The battle proved inconclusive and ended when Le Cain was taken away inside the Seal and the Zakaal was abandoned in space, its fate unknown.
