The Standard Mecha was the unnamed variable fighter used by the UNR (U.N. Resistance) terrorist group. While appearing to the public as an independent terrorist group, the UNR was a front for a cabal of military figures who planned to use the attacks to trigger martial law and initiate a coup d’état to seize control of U.N. Spacy. Developed by kidnapped U.N. Spacy mechanical engineers, the unit featured Zentradi design aesthetics, which was a deliberate decision to foment racial hatred between humans and micloned Zentradi. The mecha lacked a GERWALK mode, and its armaments included an arm-mounted cannon, shoulder cannons, torso machine guns and shoulder binder missiles. It also featured a stealth system that allowed it to avoid detection by U.N. Spacy radar. A UNR dissident named Zara stole one of the mecha while assisting reporter Hibiki Kanzaki and fought a duel against the prototype Omega model, piloted by her former lover, Zenta.
