Victory Gundam Ep. 19: Search for Shahkti

0
Summary

Oliver and Romero search the room where the hull breach occurred and find Karlmann’s bottle and some of Flanders’ hair. In space, a BESPA Sinope finds Shahkti and the others and brings them in. Uso works on the Victory Gundam, and Jinn tells Gomez he heard Keilas Guilie was being converted into a mega particle cannon. Gomez says that’s right, and Jinn wants to attack immediately. Uso and Gomez don’t agree, and Jinn believes if they attack that the colonies will support them. Uso still can’t believe that Jinn is the League Militaire’s leader. Marbet finds Uso and shows him the bottle. He goes to the room and finds a pouch with Shahkti’s willow tree seeds. He rushes back to Hiland and tells Odelo and Warren. They want to find Shahkti and the others right away and ask the Masaryks and Klanskys for their help. Uso speaks to Jinn and is told he has to accept casualties in war. Oliver says he has to face reality, but Uso ignores him. At Keilas Guilie, Tassilo and Cronicle speak to a doctor who shows them results from tests performed on Shahkti. According to a retinal scan and DNA test, Shahkti is the daughter of Maria and therefore also Cronicle’s niece. Tassilo knows that Maria has strange Newtype powers and wonders if Shahkti has them as well. Tassilo and Cronicle visit Shahkti and tell her the news. Shahkti says her mother is from Kasarelia and doesn’t believe it. Tassilo says it is indeed true, but she doesn’t have to accept it immediately. On the Reineforce, Oliver and Marbet watch Uso and Odelo sneak around. The Klanskys bring the Aeneas ship in closely to the Reineforce‘s deck and block some of the exit. While everyone talks to the Klanskys, Uso and Tomas grab the Victory Gundam and Zoloat and sneak out behind the Aeneas. Oliver calls Junko and tells her to support Uso. As they travel through space, Tomas tells Uso that he is too close to Earth’s gravity well and might be pulled in. The Klanskys detect BESPA forces directly in front of Uso. Uso detects them as well and thinks he can be easily killed in his present position.

A Sinope deploys two Zoloats to investigate. Tomas tells Uso not to deploy Minovsky particles yet so it doesn’t look like they want to start a fight. Warren wonders how he and Odelo can protect the girls, and Odelo tells him to get back inside the Aeneas. Even though he doesn’t have a mobile suit like Uso, Odelo vows to protect the girls. He flies over to the Sinope where Karel is and asks if the ship has weapons. Karel says it does but he was told by Tomas not to fire first. Odelo doesn’t listen and fires a bazooka at the Zoloats. The missile misses, and the Zoloats begin their attack. Tomas tells the Klanskys to launch dummy balloons and retreat back to Hiland. Uso tells the Zoloat pilots he has no intention of fighting, but they don’t listen. They slice away at the balloons and head for the Aeneas. Uso decides that if he’s going to find Shahkti he’ll have to fight, and he believes he can handle a few Zoloats. The Zoloats deploy their beam wires, and when Tomas fires his they cancel out both and dissipate. Odelo tells Karel to turn the Sinope around so that they can fire missiles at the Zoloats. The Zoloats approach the Aeneas, but Uso protects it with his beam shield. The Zoloats fire beam wires at him, and he responds by spreading the beam shield dangerously thin. Tomas fires his beam wires at the shields, causing it to turn green and confuse the Zoloat pilots. Uso moves in close to attack one, and it kicks his cockpit. The Sinope fires missiles, and Uso slices the Zolo apart. Suddenly, Marbet, Oliver and the Shrike Team arrive and force the Zoloats to retreat. On Keilas Guilie, Tassilo tells Cronicle to take Shahkti to the capital to see Maria. Back on the Reineforce, Jinn and Gomez want to punish Uso and the others, but Marbet asks to take care of it. She tells him Shahkti must be safe, and Uso wonders if she was rescued by people from Keilas Guilie. On Keilas Guilie, Shahkti and the others have a fancy meal.

Commentary

I figured Uso would have to go and look for Shahkti once he discovered she was missing. Of course, her going missing sets her on a path to a fateful discovery. As it turns out, she is the daughter of Maria Pure Armonia, and you can see the resemblance (despite the fact that Shahkti has dark skin and neither Maria nor Cronicle do). There are hints thrown around, as in one early episode when Cronicle hears Shahkti humming a song Maria sings. Later, Uso finds a picture of Shahkti’s mother, and looking closely you can see it is Maria Armonia. It seems likely that someone devious like Kagatie will want to use Shahkti for his own purposes, so we’ll have to see what happens to her now.
