The XVX-016RN Gundam Aerial Rebuild was the upgraded version of the Shin Sei Development Corporation’s XVX-016 Gundam Aerial. Suletta Mercury, who earned the title of duel Holder at the Asticassia School of Technology, was frequently challenged to duels. After the Gundam Aerial was damaged in a duel with Grassley House that exceeded the abilities and funding of Earth House to repair, Suletta sent the suit to her mother, Prospera, for repairs. The redesignated Aerial Rebuild added new armor pieces and equipment that improved its performance. The Aerial Rebuild incorporated a flight unit into its backpack as standard equipment, compared to the Aerial and its optional Mirasoul flight unit. The Aerial Rebuild’s basic armaments remained the same, but with some improvements. It carried a new beam rifle that could extend to a long barrel configuration without mounting bit staves; however, mounting the bit staves to form the GUND-BIT rifle gave it the power for anti-ship attacks. The exterior of the bit staves were slightly modified to match the other external changes made to the Aerial Rebuild.
The upgraded Aerial Rebuild served as the centerpiece of Prospera’s secret plan with Delling Rembran to use Quiet Zero, a superweapon designed to reshape the world by extending massive data storms to take control of any system that used Permet links. Prospera’s goal was to use the massive data storms to create a new world for her deceased daughter Eri, whose preserved consciousness resided in the Aerial Rebuild. Eri’s presence allowed the Aerial Rebuild to demonstrate new abilities at higher Permet score levels. At level six, the suit could deactivate “Antidote” attacks from enemy mobile suits and even take control of remote weaponry and drones. At level eight, Eri was able to control the suit on her own without needing Suletta as a pilot. At this point, the Aerial Rebuild rejected Eri as Prospera moved to the next phase of her plan, which called for the suit to serve as the core of Quiet Zero. However, Suletta sought to disrupt Prospera’s plan and piloted the X-EX01 Gundam Calibarn into combat. Ultimately, Suletta was successful in countering Prospera’s plan, but a new threat emerged when the Space Assembly League attempted to fire the Interplanetary Laser Transmission System to destroy Quiet Zero. Suletta took remote control of multiple Gundams and created a large data storm to remotely shut down the laser. The large data storm disintegrated all GUND Format mobile suits, including the Aerial Rebuild. Although the mobile suit was no more, Eri’s consciousness was retained inside Suletta’s keychain.
