The ZGMF-2027/A GYAN Strom was a mobile suit fielded by the global peacekeeping agency Compass. ZAFT, one of the governments supporting Compass, developed the GYAN Strom as a successor to its earlier ZGMF-2000 GOUF Ignited. The GOUF Ignited proved more difficult to mass produce than the ZGMF-1000 ZAKU Warrior, so ZAFT sought to increase efficiency by having multiple mobile suits share standardized parts. The GYAN Strom utilized the same B.O.L.E.L.O. backpack as the ZGMF-2025/F GELGOOG Menace, which could be configured into A-type for Earth and an S-type for space. Its armaments included a beam rifle, beam saber, beam axe, 3-barrel rotary beam machine guns, 6-tube short-range guided missile launchers, a self-propelled shield with beam saber emitters and the GOUF Ignited’s slayer whips. ZAFT supplied two GYAN Strom units to Compass, piloted by Hilda Harken and Agnes Giebenrath. In C.E. 75, Compass was caught off guard by the betrayal of the Kingdom of Foundation during a joint anti-Blue Cosmos operation. This resulted in Hilda’s unit suffering heavy damage, while Agnes turned traitor and joined Foundation. After the battle, Hilda inherited Lunamaria Hawke’s GELGOOG Menace.
