The AV-02 Valiant was a next generation police patrol labor designed by Shinohara Heavy Industries to replace their earlier model, the revolutionary AV-98 Ingram. The Valiant featured a design similar to its predecessor, including the trademark police lights, revolver cannon and shield. By 2002, the Valiant had supplanted the Ingram, which had been relegated to serving as a data testbed at Shinohara. However, the situation changed when a coup was initiated by the right-wing National Defense Family, which had infiltrators within the Self-Defense Forces. To prevent any police resistance, the coup plotters dispatched several AFH-02B Hellhound attack helicopters to the SV2 station house, where they destroyed every Valiant unit. In response, SV2 placed the Ingrams back on active duty to hunt down and arrest National Defense Family leader Yukihito Tsuge.
