Dunbine Ep. 24: Attack vs Attack

0
Summary

The Zelana leaves its hiding place and heads out on an operation to attack Drake’s factories. Shou is against the idea, but Nie tells him that it is supported by King Foizon, and Queen Ceila of the Land of Na, a country even more powerful than Lao. Meanwhile, Todd, who has now fully recovered leaves Nikusu, the woman who took care of him, on a Pigsy she stole. The Zelana begins its attack, sending out the Dunbine, Bozune, Fous and Dana O’Shee. One of Drake’s small factories finds itself quickly under attack and sends out its small forces of Drumlos. After initially having trouble with the Drumlos, they are eventually able to destroy them all and destroy the factory. Having won, the Zelana leaves, with only the Dana O’Shee having taken major damage. Todd heads through the woods, thinking of his last battle with Shou. He heads to the land of Ku, where he visits with Bishot Hate. Todd asks Bishot Hate to let him become a hired soldier of his. He says he’s been through hell and thinks that the King of Ku should rule Byston Well, not Drake. Bishot Hate accepts him into his forces to be used as a pilot for a new Aura Battler. On the Zelana Riml rests after her poor performance in the last battle. Shou brings some flowers to her. Todd heads out in the Aura Battler Vierres, finding it more powerful than anything Shot’s created. One of the mechanics tells Todd that Riml is now on the Zelana and Todd gets the idea of taking her hostage, something the mechanic feels is ridiculous since Ku is an ally of Drake. On the Zelana Chum and Keen laugh at Shou after hearing about him bringing Riml flowers. Nie goes to see how Riml is feeling.

The Zelana heads back through the mountains looking for another factory based on Hon Wan’s information. All the Aura Battlers head out and they soon find the factory and attack it. Shou heads into the factory and finding it empty realizes that they’ve fallen into a trap. Suddenly a bunch of Drumlos come out and attack them. Shou starts complaining like he did before. More forces, led by Allen show themselves and attack. Allen attacks Shou in his Virunvee. Marvel battles with a Leprechaun and Nie arrives to give her a hand. Shou has trouble against Allen and is shocked he’s doing so poorly. He takes out a Drumlo but is attacked from behind by Allen and is knocked to the ground. Allen is about to finish him off when he is attacked by Todd, who arrives with a group of Tungy Aura Bombs. Todd fights Allen, telling him to stay out of his fight with Shou and blows the Virunvee’s arm off. Allen, forced to the ground, swears revenge. The Tungys attack the Zelana while Todd battles Shou. Shou thinks Todd should use his Aura Power for good purposes, but Todd says what he’s doing is justified, blaming it all on him. Their Aura Power becomes so strong that they blast up to an odd, space like environment. Shou says they should stop fighting but Todd won’t listen. They return and Shou wonders if Todd saw the same environment he did. Todd and the rest of his forces retreat. Shou rests on the Zelana, telling the others what he saw. None of them are familiar with it and wonder if it is a land of the Ferario. They decide to return to their hiding place in the bay and plan a larger attack on Drake rather than guerilla attacks on his factories.

Commentary

Todd makes his return after an absence of about 10 episodes or so and gets in Shou’s way once again. He seems a lot more confident now, immediately going to see Bishot Hate and doesn’t seem nervous with Allen around anymore. Speaking of Bishot Hate, he too shows up again after appearing early on in the series. An ally of Drake’s, he seems to have his own ambitions as well. If he starts becoming as aggressive as Drake has been, our heroes will be in even bigger trouble than they are in now. Its good to see the Zelana in another setting after spending a number of episodes in the bay. This episode features another bizarre realm of the Ferario during Todd and Shou’s fight. Hopefully we’ll learn more about these strange settings as the show goes on. And what’s with that woman who took care of Todd all this time? She seemed rather upset to see him go but it wasn’t really explained why she was taking care of him.
