The Fanfan was a light hovercraft used by the Earth Federation Forces to defend its Jaburo base. Propelled by two hover engines, the Fanfan was intended for use against enemy ground units that infiltrated the base. Because Minovsky particles were not spread inside Jaburo, the Fanfan was able to use wire-guided missile launchers. However, the Fanfan was ill-equipped to fight mobile suits. When Zeon forces led by Char Aznable infiltrated the base in UC 0079, Woody Malden was killed in an ill-advised attempt to use a Fanfan against Char’s custom MSM-07S Z’Gok.
