The GN-XXX Gundam Rasiel was a top secret suit completed on Veda’s orders, so much so that even its real model number was concealed. The Gundam Rasiel was completed at the same time as the other four third generation Gundams, but it was deployed five years earlier to help Veda collect data in places it had difficulty with, such as battlefields. Named after an archangel, the Gundam Rasiel was also known as the “Observer of the Battlefields” due to its mission. The suit was developed by Celestial Being engineer Ian Vashti, although even he lacked full knowledge of its internal systems. Ian was involved with the development of the AEU’s AEU-05/92 AEU Hellion Initium and applied its same concept of concentrating thrust on the suit’s upper body. However, the use of GN particles allowed for higher performance. Its shoulder-focused propulsion and the ability to combine with a support unit (the GNR-000 GN Sefer) was seen again later with the GN-0000 00 Gundam.
The Gundam Rasiel was usually powered by the GN-000 0 Gundam‘s GN Drive, but on a test flight with the 0 Gundam it used a GN Drive from a fellow third generation unit. Like its fellow units, the Gundam Rasiel featured voice activated optical camouflage. However, the the effect collapsed in motion, and the suit’s camouflage system was negatively affected by GN particles. As a result, the camouflage worked best to hide the Gundam Rasiel when not in use. As a reconnaissance unit, the Gundam Rasiel was armed more lightly and consumed less GN particles than the other Gundams. Its GN Beam Rifle had reduced attack power, but improved long-range capabilities. The rifle was powered by an internal GN Condenser and could not fire when the particles were depleted. It was also armed with a small GN Shield, which also carried two GN Beam Sabers. Later on, the Innovators built a replica of the Gundam Rasiel dubbed the GN-XXXB Black Rasiel. It was later recovered by Fereshte, repainted in its original colors, and converted from using a GN Drive Tau to a GN Condenser/Particle Tank. This second unit was later piloted by Hixar Fermi.
