The GNX-Y903VW Brave (Commander Test Type) was a prototype mobile suit designed for skilled pilots. The Commander Test Type had multiple differences from the GNX-Y903VS Brave (Standard Test Type), with the biggest being that it featured two GN Drive Taus. Housed in the suit’s side binders, the two drives allowed for higher power output than the Standard Test Type, but they made the suit more difficult to control. If one of the drives was lost during battle, the other could be moved from the binder to the backpack via a binder support arm. The Commander Test Type featured larger binders, and thus also larger (and higher output) GN Beam Sabers that were stored within. The Commander Test Type also included an enhanced communication system in its head. The GN Cannons had a higher caliber due to particle consumption not being as much of an issue with the extra drive. During the ELS conflict of 2314, Graham Aker piloted a Commander Test Type and led the Sol Braves team into battle. During the conflict, Graham was injured and presumed killed, but he actually survived due to being partially assimilated by the ELS.
