The monstrous JDG-00X Devil Gundam that lurked in the shadows of the 13th Gundam Fight was originally intended for a more noble purpose. As designed by the Kasshus of Neo Japan, the Ultimate Gundam was supposed to use its nanotechnology to restore the battered Earth to its original condition. However, while Kyoji Kasshu tried to keep it out of the hands of Urube Ishikawa, a system malfunction caused the Ultimate Gundam to transform into the Devil Gundam. The Devil Gundam seized Kyoji and used him as the core life unit to power its own self-evolution. After arriving on Earth, the Devil Gundam was found by Master Asia, the former King of Hearts and winner of the 12th Gundam Fight. Angered at the damage done to Earth by the Gundam Fight, Master Asia hoped to use the Devil Gundam to destroy humanity and restore the Earth to its original condition.
The constantly evolving Devil Gundam came with several armaments, including head vulcans powerful enough to destroy a mobile fighter and a beam cannon that could destroy many mobile suits at once. However, it usually fought by proxy by creating the mass produced Death Army mobile suit line, Gundam Head weapons or the Gundams of the Four Heavenly Kings. This was accomplished with the use of the nanotech DG cells, which had the power to create weapons, resurrect corpses, control living humans and repair the Devil Gundam. The Devil Gundam was secretly moved to Tokyo’s Shinjuku district, and this eventually caught the attention of the Neo Japan space colony. Gundam Fighter Domon Kasshu and his partner Rain Mikamura were sent to investigate and eventually discovered that Master Asia had become a servant of the Devil Gundam. After the Devil Gundam left Tokyo, it followed Domon to South America’s Guiana Highlands, where he traveled to train to fight Master Asia. After a fierce battle, Domon destroyed the Devil Gundam with his GF13-017NJ Shining Gundam.
However, Master Asia and Neo Hong Kong’s Wong Yun Fat were in league and secretly transported the Devil Gundam’s remains to Neo Hong Kong. Wong himself wanted to restore the Devil Gundam so that he could make himself the ruler of the universe. There was one problem with their secret plans: Domon’s attack injured Kyoji’s body so severely that he was virtually worthless as a core life unit. Wong’s research revealed that as a giver of life a woman was the best choice as a core life unit, and he planned to use Neo Sweden’s Alenbie Beardsley. On the other hand, Master Asia was convinced that Domon was the right choice as a core life unit. As the Battle Royal began on Lantau Island, the Devil Gundam was resurrected and once again destroyed by Domon, this time with the new GF13-017NJII God Gundam. After the Gundam Fight ended with Domon as the winner, Urube transported the Devil Gundam back to space for his own ambition. Following Wong’s notes, he used Rain as the core life unit and resurrected the Devil Gundam one last time, making it more powerful than ever before. In its new form, the Devil Gundam merged with the Neo Japan space colony to form the Colony Devil Gundam. With the power of the space colony, the Devil Gundam began to attack Earth and destroy entire cities. Domon penetrated the interior of the colony with his God Gundam and rescued Rain by admitting his love for her. With the core life unit removed, Domon and Rain were able to destroy the Devil Gundam permanently.
