The Principality of Zeon mass produced the MS-05 Zaku I in the build up to its war of independence against the Earth Federation. Units assigned to special forces received custom color schemes, including those assigned to the Special Service commanded by Kycilia Zabi. These units were painted in a dark color scheme and featured a crest-shaped head decoration. The Special Service units, which were often deployed on special missions, were believed to have different specifications from the standard Zaku I. At the start of the One Year War, Kycilia’s special forces participated in the battle to seize the lunar city Granada.
