Technical and Historical Notes

As part of its top secret super soldier project, the Human Reform League also developed specialized mobile suits for the super soldiers to pilot. As the super soldier project had been shut down, the only such machine known to be constructed is the MSJ-06II-SP Tieren Taozi used by Soma Peries. Unlike other Tieren units, the Taozi could operate both on Earth and in space. Its high mobility was accomplished by having more thrusters, movable shoulder armor and newly designed leg thrusters. Thanks to the additional camera eyes on the head, the Taozi had enhanced data gathering capability. The suit had additional armor in front of the cockpit to increase the survival rate of the highly precious super soldier. The cockpit had a high-speed data processing system to accommodate a super soldier’s abilities. This system gathered data from all the suit’s sensors, including the additional head-mounted camera eyes, and integrated it into a holographic display, allowing for faster and more precise mobile suit control. More work was required if this cockpit display system was to be employed in other suits, as the developers felt that the amount of data processing required was too much for a normal pilot. Eventually, a normal pilot version was produced in the MSJ-06III-A Tieren All-Region Type.
