The Zeta plus was the first transformable mobile suit used by the Karaba resistance group, and its pilots had no previous experience with these complex machines. As simulator training alone was inadequate for complicated high-G maneuvers such as midair transformation, Karaba converted a handful of MSZ-006A1 Zeta plus A1 units into two-seater trainer machines to help pilots adapt to the new mobile suit. In addition to its expanded cockpit, the MSZ-006B Zeta plus B also had a new head for its mobile suit form. The B type was later used by the regular Earth Federation Forces as well as Karaba. The Gundam pilots of Taskforce Alpha were trained on these machines at the Nellis air base in Nevada while they awaited the delivery of their new mobile suits.
