The MSZ-006LGT Lightning Z Gundam was a custom Gunpla built by Try Fighters member Yuuma Kousaka. It was based on the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam from the 1985-86 anime TV series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Compared to the anime version, Yuuma omitted the transformation function and replaced it with the Phoenix Burst System, which allowed the back binders to be mounted on the arms to perform the Phoenix Burst special attack. The Lightning Z’s armaments included a beam rifle, a pair of beam blades and a shield. The Lightning Z served as Yuuma’s entry into the Meijin Cup artistic Gunpla building competition. Meijin Kawaguchi selected the Lightning Z as the winner, but when rival Minato Sakai objected, the Meijin suggests settling the dispute through a Gunpla Battle. Yuuma also used the MSZ-006LGT-3 Lightning Z Gundam Aspros, which was repainted to match Amuro Ray’s colors from the Gundam Evolve shorts.
