The RAG-79 Aqua GM was an aquatic mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces during the One Year War to challenge the Principality of Zeon’s supremacy on the seas. Due to a rushed development process, the standard RGM-79 GM served as the base frame for the Aqua GM. This resulted in several issues, including pressure resistance and airtightness, which all contributed to the Aqua GM’s low performance. The Aqua GM was armed with two back-mounted torpedo pods and could carry eight micro missiles on its shoulders. It was also equipped with a pair of hand anchors and four beam picks. The Aqua GM could carry a 10-tube missile launcher and harpoon gun as optional armaments. A similar unit, the RGM-79[M] GM Marine Type, saw combat in Antarctica in UC 0080. The Aqua GM remained in service as late as UC 0096, but by then it was massively outmatched by Neo Zeon’s latest mobile suit designs.
