The High Speed Raiding Space Cruiser was a warship used by the Varauta forces during the Protodeviln War of 2045-46. The cruiser featured improved conventional engines, improved maneuverability and a higher powered fold system to allow for quick entry and exit from combat zones. Befitting its raider role, the cruiser’s weapons and armor were strongest in its forward section. Its armaments included six beam guns of various calibers, six converging beam guns and 18 anti-ship missile launchers. In February 2046, the U.N. Spacy forces aboard the Macross 7 emigrant fleet initiated Operation Stargazer to attack the Protodeviln directly on planet Varauta IV. The operation ended in failure, as the Protodeviln destroyed their ship in orbit and captured the remaining personnel on the surface. However, they later escaped and hijacked a High Speed Raiding Space Cruiser to return to the Macross 7 fleet. By studying the captured ship’s variable fighters, U.N. Spacy was able to develop Spiritia absorption pods to use against the Protodeviln.
