The RMS-179 GM II Semi Striker was a field modification of the standard model created by the EFF’s Torrington Base. The unit featured extra armor on its shoulders and the twin beam spear from the RGM-79FP GM Striker, which gave the suit its Semi Striker nickname. The left forearm was also equipped with a small shield similar to the one used by the FA-78-1 Full Armor Gundam. The GM II Semi Striker participated in the defense of the base when Zeon remnants attacked in UC 0096, but it was defeated by the MS-08TX/S Efreet Schneid.
