Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn (anime)

0

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn is an OVA series released in Japan from 2010-2014. It marked the first time that the franchise adapted preexisting material into anime – in this case, novels of the same name by Harutoshi Fukui. The series was directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, with mecha designs by Hajime Katoki and Junya Ishigaki, character designs by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko and a score by Hiroyuki Sawano. The series is set in UC 0096, three years after the film Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack. Young civilian Banagher Links is drawn into a new conflict as the Earth Federation and Neo Zeon remnants compete for control of Laplace’s Box. The series was originally announced to have six episodes, but was later extended to seven. Sunrise also produced the shorts One of Seventy Two and A Phantom World between 2013-2016 that played exclusively at Gundam Front Tokyo. In 2016, Sunrise created a 22-episode TV re-edit called Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 that also aired in North America on Cartoon Network. Gundam Unicorn‘s story continued in the 2018 theatrical film Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative. The OVA series is available on home video in North America from Nozomi Entertainment.
