Originally an experimental model, the Z-01 Lancelot quickly rose to become the scion of the seventh generation of Knightmare Frames, as well as the machine that took Suzaku Kururugi from a faceless soldier in the Britannian military to the Knight of Seven, one of the strongest soldiers in the Empire. After the resolution of the war between Britannia and the EU, Suzaku transferred back to his homeland of Area 11 in order to hunt down terrorist leader Zero, who had apparently returned after a year of silence. To better combat Zero and the Black Knights, Lancelot designer Lloyd Asplund gave the design a series of minor upgrades, resulting in the Z-01/DF Lancelot Conquista. In addition to an overall power boost and improved shielding against EMP and Gefjun Disturber weapons, the Lancelot Conquista mounted three additional “Blaze Luminous” energy shields: one on each leg, primarily used for kicking attacks, and one on the chest which could be used to generate a “Core Luminous Cone” for a battering ram attack. The other major change to the Lancelot was the installation of a hadron blaster, a back-mounted weapon that docked with the VARIS rifle to fire powerful blasts of energy much like the IFX-V3D1 Gawain. Suzaku went on to use the Lancelot Conquista until the Second Battle of Tokyo, where the machine was badly damaged in battle with Kallen Kouzuki’s Type-02/F1Z Guren SEITEN. Over a month after the battle, Suzaku joined with Zero, better known as his former friend Lelouch Lamperouge, as the former terrorist took over Britannia in order to better pursue their common goal of making the world a kinder place. As Lelouch’s Knight of Zero, Suzaku moved on to piloting the new Z-01Z Lancelot Albion, but he also had the damaged Lancelot rebuilt as the Z-01/A Lancelot Frontier for their co-conspirator, the immortal C.C., to use.
