Although the creation of mobile suits was inspired by human-sized space worker pods, the ZGMF-1017 Works GINN was a mobile suit-sized version of the worker pod. The Works GINN was not equipped with any built-in weapons as its main function was construction, ship maintenance, etc. Instead of the wings used on the standard GINN, the Works GINN featured two wing binders attached to the backpack. Each binder contained two maneuvering thrusters. The Works GINN also featured three manipulator fingers in place of a left hand. Also, the Works GINN was equipped with a towing winch in its crotch area. Aside from all the standard uses, Junk Guild pilot Liam Garfield used his unit for salvage operations to retrieve damaged mobile suits for resale. Although he usually stayed out of battles, Liam took up a linear gun and joined in the fight when the Earth Alliance attacked the mobile space colony
