Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th M.S. Team is an OVA series released in Japan from 1996-1999. It was originally directed by Takayuki Kanda, who died halfway through production and was replaced by Umanosuke Iida. Other staff on the OVA included mechanical designers Kunio Okawara, Kimitoshi Yamane and Hajime Katoki, character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto and composer Kouhei Tanaka. Set during the One Year War in UC 0079, the series stars Shiro Amada, an Earth Federation Forces officer assigned to lead a mobile suit team in Southeast Asia. A compilation movie titled Miller’s Report recaps the first eight episodes and added new material leading into the ninth episode. In 2013, a new short film titled Battle in Three Dimensions was created for the Japanese Blu-ray set. The series aired in North America on Cartoon Network’s Toonami block and is available on home video from Nozomi Entertainment, having previously been released by Bandai Entertainment.
