Constructed after the One Year War, the battleship Birmingham was the first and only ship of its class. The Birmingham was intended to show off the power of the Earth Federation Forces, which was reflected in its size: at 398 meters long, it was larger than any One Year War battleships, with the exception of the Principality of Zeon’s Gwazine and Dolos classes. The Birmingham’s defenses were focused on the ship’s own firepower, and despite its postwar construction, it lacked mobile suit storage facilities. The Birmingham’s armaments included multiple mega particle guns, laser gun turrets and missile launchers. On November 10, UC 0083, the Birmingham travelled to Confeito under the command of Adm. Green Wyatt to participate in the EFF’s naval review. Unbeknownst to many, Wyatt was involved in secret negotiations with Cima Garahau, a Zeon commander whose fleet participated in Operation Stardust. However, the Birmingham was destroyed when Anavel Gato fired the nuclear warhead carried by the stolen RX-78GP02A Gundam GP02A Physalis. Four years later, the Birmingham’s design was revisited as the inspiration for the Titans carrier Dogosse Giar, which packed both heavy firepower and a high mobile suit capacity.
