After Beside Pain’s CB-001 1 Gundam was severely damaged in a battle with Fon Spaak’s GNY-001F Gundam Astraea Type F, he used a secret factory in an orbital elevator to upgrade the suit into the CB-001.5 1.5 Gundam. The upgrades increased the suit’s performance in all areas by 1.5 times. Its moveable binders, based on the GNMS-XCVII Alvaaron, were connected directly to the GN Drive Tau. The binders mounted beam rifles, which were positioned under the shoulder armor when in use. The binders could also be used to enhance the 1.5 Gundam’s performance, including a defense mode where the binders were sandwiched between the GN Shield to deploy an enhanced GN Field along the shield’s surface. In attack mode, the binders’ GN particle control capabilities enhanced the power of the GN Buster Rifle. In flight mode, the lower two-thirds of the binders folded outward at 90 degrees, allowing them to serve as wings. In high speed mode, the binders were positioned behind the GN Drive Tau, and the efficient control of the drive’s GN particles allowed for high-speed flight. In standby mode, both binders were positioned on one side of the suit: to left for defense, to the right for offense. In Alvaaron cannon mode, the binders were positioned over the shoulders and acted as beam cannons. Due to the heavy use of GN particles, the Alvaaron cannon had a limit of about two uses per sortie.
