The ECM Pod was an electronic countermeasure craft used by the Zentradi forces. It was armed with multiple beam cannons and capable of jamming communications over a wide area. During the last battle of Space War I, the Zentradi deployed an ECM Pod to jam the Macross’ broadcast of Lynn Minmay’s singing, which had a cultural shock effect on both the Zentradi and Meltrandi. The ECM Pod was destroyed by Hikaru Ichijyo’s VF-1S Strike Valkyrie, which allowed the Macross’ broadcast to resume.
