The Earth Alliance’s F-7D Spearhead VTOL fighter was a mass production unit deployed all across Earth as the Alliance’s main terrestrial fighting unit. The Spearhead was armed with two 20mm machine guns and several anti-air missiles. These armaments made it vastly inferior to any of ZAFT’s mobile weapons deployed on Earth. After the introduction of the mass production mobile suit GAT-01 Strike Dagger, the Spearhead continued to serve its same role in the air, but without the burden of being the only defense against ZAFT. One Spearhead unit was used by ace pilot Mu La Flaga to escape the Alliance’s Alaska base and return to the Archangel during ZAFT’s Operation Spit Break. Another was used by ace pilot Edward Harrelson, who earned the nickname “Ed the Ripper” for slicing enemy mobile suits in half with his wings.
