The Garencieres was a space freighter used by the “Sleeves” faction of Neo Zeon. The ship bore the Rivacona Cargo name on its hull to disguise its military function. The Garencieres was capable of atmospheric entry and flying unassisted under Earth’s gravity. The ship was unarmed and depended upon its four mobile suits for defense. In UC 0096, the Garencieres’ crew, led by Capt. Suberoa Zinnerman, helped instigate the Laplace Incident by initiating secret negotiations with the Vist Foundation on the Industrial 7 Colony. The ship participated in multiple battles against Londo Bell and entered Earth’s atmosphere. The ship traveled from Africa to Australia and later conducted a rescue operation for Mineva Zabi by attacking the transport plane Garuda. The ship’s engine output fell while it attempted to escape the atmosphere, so Banagher Links used the power of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam’s psychoframe to help pull it into orbit. Later, the ship was set to self-destruct after Neo Zeon occupied the Londo Bell ship Nahel Argama. One year later, Zinnerman captained a replacement ship named Garencieres Jr. during the Phoenix Hunt incident of UC 0097.
