Gundam ZZ Ep. 47: Warrior, Once More…

0
Summary

On the Nahel Argama, Judau visits Ple Two in the infirmary. The ship hides behind Moussa as a shield since Haman’s fleet is located behind Core 3. Beecha wonders why Haman hasn’t acted yet, and Judau says she is waiting for them to make their move. Judau leaves and is followed by Elle. She wants to go along with him in the Hyaku-Shiki, but he tells her to protect the ship. Beecha tells her to leave Judau alone, and she slaps him. He slaps her and tells her that Judau has his own reason for fighting Haman and that they must defend the ship for him. Judau gets a drink from Astonaige and then launches in the ZZ Gundam. Against Chara’s advice, Haman launches in her Qubeley to fight Judau. They meet in space, but they are instantly attacked by the Ple Two clones in the Qubeley Mass Production Types. Chara and Nee show up so that Haman can fight Judau without distraction. The Ple Two clones all deploy their funnels and destroy Nee’s Gaz-R. Chara destroys several units before slamming the Geymalk into one of the Qubeleys and exploding herself. Judau fights with Haman inside of Moussa and feels Chara’s death. As they fight, Moussa slams into Core 3 and begins to break apart. Haman grapples Judau from behind and deploys her funnels in front of him. He ejects the Core Base and slices at the funnels with ZZ Gundam’s top half. He then ejects with the Neo Core Fighter and attacks Haman. She knocks the Neo Core Fighter aside, and Judau abandons it. She gets out of the Qubeley and starts shooting at him. He grabs her and tells her that her existence is disgusting and she must die. She gets back into the Qubeley, and Judau finds that the Neo Core Fighter doesn’t work. The power of the bio-sensor knocks Haman away and disables the Qubeley. She sees images of Kamille, Ple, Katz, Sarah Zabiarov, Lalah Sune and Four Murasame protecting Judau as ZZ Gundam recombines. Judau sees that ZZ Gundam is filled with everyone’s will.

Haman wonders if people’s determination can turn into power, and Judau attacks again. She tells him that Earth was destroyed before people evolved into Newtypes, and he tells her to trust in humanity. He fires the high mega cannon for a sustained blast on the Qubeley, but it emerges mostly undamaged. Haman escapes and attacks with funnels. Ple’s voice warns Judau that Haman is about to ambush him. Haman and Judau attack each other with beam sabers and slice appendages off each other’s suits. Haman says she was planning to sacrifice her life to kill Judau, but she lost already. He asks her why she didn’t use funnels, and she says it was because she agreed to fight him one-on-one. Judau tells her that she should use her abilities for good, and she laughs at him. She says that because of him she became a fool and was unable to destroy Earth. She flies away and slams the Qubeley into one of Moussa’s walls. On the Nahel Argama, everyone wonders if Judau can make it out alive. Moussa begins to explode, so Judau ejects the remains of the Core Base, but he is unable to eject the Core Top. Ple Two directs Beecha in firing the hyper mega particle gun to create an exit for Judau. As he flies out of Moussa, he is angry to see the AEUG and EFF fleet arrive so late in the battle. On the Sadalahn, Bright and Judau find out that Mineva is gone and was replaced by a lookalike. Bright figures that the real Mineva was probably switched out after the final battle of the Gryps War. Judau grabs Madchar by the neck and asks him if he thinks doing nothing gives him the right to stay on Earth. Bright tells Judau to punch him to release his frustration, so Judau does. Later, on the Moon, everyone says goodbye to Judau and Roux as they prepare to board the Jupitris II, bound for Jupiter. Leina watches from nearby and doesn’t want to give Judau second thoughts about leaving, but Sayla tells her she’s underestimating Judau. Leina goes down to see Judau, and the two hug when they are reunited. On Earth, Kamille and Fa run together on a beach. In space, the Jupitris II takes off and begins the long journey to Jupiter.

Commentary

Ah, where to begin with this finale? Considering what a poor start this series got off to, it managed to turn out pretty well. The final duel here between Judau and Haman is rather disappointing and comes off like a rehash of the final duel between Kamille and Scirocco. In both duels, both sides spouted out philosophy about Newtypes and humanity, and both Kamille and Judau did incredible things with the mysterious power of the bio-sensors in their Gundams. However, the difference here is that Judau doesn’t get his brain fried and Haman commits suicide. Also, how exactly did Judau get the upper hand on Haman? In Zeta Gundam, Kamille and Char were barely able to even touch her, but Judau trashes her Qubeley. I guess Haman became rusty since she hasn’t piloted the Qubeley since the Gryps War ended. I also didn’t care much for Judau’s happy reunion with Leina and think she was better off dead. How Sayla managed to come into the equation and nurse Leina back to health is beyond me. However, on the plus side, it is good to have Kamille in the end and see that he finally recovered from Scirocco’s attack. Overall, the first half of this series was a waste, and it’s a shame it didn’t get good until the second half.
