The ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex was the eighth and final form of the Gundam Barbatos. It was created following a fierce battle between Mikazuki Augus’ Gundam Barbatos Lupus and the Hashmal, one of the dreaded unmanned mobile armors from the Calamity War. The damaged suit was sent to the Teiwaz engineers on Saisei, who overhauled it and added Rex, the Latin word for “king,” to its name. Featuring a more animalistic appearance that matched Mikazuki’s aggressive combat style, the Lupus Rex had its response speed increased to the maximum possible level to match Mikazuki’s senses. Following the battle with the Hashmal, Mikazuki lost the use of the entire right side of his body, but his limbs functioned normally when he connected to the Alaya-Vijnana System. The Lupus Rex featured new, larger arms that mounted Rex nails on each hand for piercing attacks.
The Hashmal’s devastating tail blade was incorporated into the Lupus Rex, which Mikazuki could control through Alaya-Vijnana as though it were one of his limbs. The Lupus Rex’s larger arms could accommodate a new ultra-large mace that featured two pile bunkers. Each forearm featured a sub-arm and mounted a 200mm gun, and the knees featured heel bunkers. The Lupus Rex was fielded during the McGillis Fareed Incident, a rebellion instigated by McGillis and Tekkadan against Gjallarhorn’s ruling Seven Stars families. The rebels were pushed back to Mars to make their last stand, and an orbital bombardment of Dainsleif weapons caused severe damage to the Lupus Rex. Soon after, Mikazuki was killed in battle by Julieta Juris’ EB-08jjc Reginlaze Julia.
