Technical and Historical Notes

The GN-0000/7S 00 Gundam Seven Sword was a close-range combat configuration of the GN-0000 00 Gundam. It was designed while the Twin Drive System was still in development, and before Setsuna F. Seiei rejoined Celestial Being, but with the assumption that he would serve as the pilot. The 00 Gundam Seven Sword was an evolution of the Seven Swords concept from Setsuna’s GN-001 Gundam Exia, but with a different implementation. Its main armament was a GN Buster Sword, which could function in a shield mode and generate a single plane GN Field, or in sword mode, based on the buster sword from the GNX-607T/AC GN-XII Sword. The GN Sword II Long had a more powerful rifle mode than the GN Sword II, but it also had higher GN particle consumption and a lower rapid fire capability. The GN Sword II Short acted as a throwing weapon based on the Gundam Exia’s GN Beam Daggers. Mounted on the knees, the two GN Katars were mid-sized heat swords unlike anything used by other Gundams. its blade was made from a modified version of the material used in GN Condensers. As the GN particles converted to heat, the heat was immediately conducted to whatever is in contact with the blade. In theory, this mechanism allowed high temperature attacks that were beyond the limits of the material used in the GN Katar. When the GNR-010 0 Raiser was developed to stabilize the Twin Drive System, the Seven Sword equipment was set aside because it was not possible for the 00 Gundam to use both at the same time. After the 00 Gundam was heavily damaged in the final battle with the Innovators in 2012, it was repaired and reconfigured into the GN-0000GNHW/7SG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G, which used many of the same weapons.
