The Nelson class battleship served as the backbone of the Earth Alliance’s space fleets during the Bloody Valentine War. At almost double the size of the Drake class, the Nelson class was more heavily armed and featured an internal hangar to store the TS-MA2 Moebius mobile armor. While this heavily armed ship could not easily be destroyed by ZAFT’s standard ZGMF-1017 GINN mobile suit, it could be wiped out by one of the Gundams stolen by ZAFT. After the war, the Alliance upgraded the Nelson class with external mobile suit launch decks.
