The PPGN-001 Gundam Exia Dark Matter was a modified version of Meijin Kawaguchi’s Gundam Amazing Exia. Aside from its menacing new appearance, the Dark Matter was equipped with dark matter blades, a prominence blade, a brinicle blade, and a dark matter rifle. The Dark Matter could also generate a defensive beam barrier. It also utilized the Flana Institute’s Embody System, with Meijin Kawaguchi brainwashed to serve blindly at the whim of PPSE Chairman Mashita. The chairman, fearing that Arian prince Reiji would discover his identity, tried and failed on multiple occasions to eliminate Reiji and Sei Iori from the 7th Gunpla Battle World Championship. As his final gambit, he brainwashed the Meijin and had the Dark Matter created to serve as the tournament’s final opponent. However, Sei and Reiji managed to win the final battle and broke Mashita’s mind control over the Meijin, allowing him to regain control and reveal the original Amazing Exia under the Dark Matter’s armor.
