Picture Drama 4: Stage 9.75

Review by Chris Guanche

July 29, 2007

Summary

Lelouch makes dinner and eats with Nunnally. She asks him if he's reminded of their past, and he answers that nothing is like the painful past they had. She says that good things happened, such as meeting Suzaku, and Lelouch says that was the only good thing. She says that person hasn't come around much lately, and Lelouch says Suzaku is busy with the army, but Nunnally is referring to C.C. She says it must be hard for Lelouch to date with a little sister around, and he says C.C. isn't his girlfriend. He hurriedly tries to come up with an explanation for what his relationship to C.C. is, but he's interrupted by the arrival of their maid, Sayoko Shinozaki. Nunnally asks how Milly's 31st marriage proposal went, and Sayoko answers that Milly wrecked it herself, as usual. Nunnally wonders if it's because Milly has something in mind, and Lelouch thinks she probably wants to enjoy her freedom. Sayoko says that despite her outward appearance, Milly is actually quite shy. Sayoko gives Nunnally another Japanese good luck charm: a straw doll that you drive nails into.

Commentary

Not much is going on in this picture drama, but it does give us a quiet moment between Lelouch and Nunnally without any interruptions. Nunnally assumes that C.C. is Lelouch's girlfriend, and he runs through a bunch of ridiculous possibilities in an attempt to explain who C.C. is. He fails, but he's thankfully saved by Sayoko, who brings weird Japanese charms to Nunnally.
