GENESIS
fires and destroys a large number of Alliance ships and mobile suits.
The Dominion barely dodges the blast and maneuvers quickly
to escape. The Alliance fleet attempts to escape and reassemble
nearby. Patrick gives a speech across all space saying that the
war has turned into a massacre because of the Alliance's attempt to attack
PLANTs again. ZAFT forces continue to attack the retreating fleet,
and the Dominion destroys several ships and mobile suits
with its main guns. GINNs begin to chase retreating Strike Daggers,
and Kira separates from the METEOR and asks them to stop attacking
those who have no will to fight. They ignore him, so he blasts their
heads and arms off. Patrick continues his speech and says that GENESIS
will be the light signaling the birth of the new human race of Coordinators.
The Dominion recovers its wounded mobile suit pilots, and
Natarle prepares to help support another ship. Azrael yells at her
and says they have to re-supply and continue attacking ZAFT. She
tells him that's reckless, and he says they can't allow GENESIS
to remain in existence because it could be fired at Earth. He blames
the ineffectiveness of the Alliance military for allowing ZAFT to
have enough time to develop GENESIS. Everyone gathers on the Eternal
to hear Erica's analysis of GENESIS. She explains that it's
a gamma ray laser that directly shoots out the energy of
a nuclear bomb. She says that if it were fired at Earth it would
incinerate the surface and destroy all life. Andy comments that
because both sides have used their ultimate weapons once already,
they won't hesitate to use them again. He says that in his first
battles he was hesitant about shooting at people, but he became
used to it. So too have the Alliance and ZAFT become used to firing
their weapons. Kira says that they can't allow the use of GENESIS
or nuclear missiles ever again.
The
Alliance fleet prepares to attack Jachin Due and GENESIS. Patrick
sees that the Alliance fleet is still in the area, and Rau suggests
that they're probably waiting for reinforcements. Rau asks if they
will fire first, and Patrick says that even if they don't they still
win. Yzak runs into Ezalia, and she tells him they are preparing
to fire GENESIS again. He asks her where they will fire, but she
tells him not to overdo things in battle and kisses him. On the
Eternal, everyone plans how they can attack GENESIS. Andy
thinks that's a problem because GENESIS has Phase Shift and is protected
by Jachin Due and a large fleet. The Alliance fleet launches and
prepares to attack again. The Three Ships Alliance prepares to launch,
and Lacus gives Kira a ring and asks him to come back to her. He
promises he will and kisses her before leaving. Cagalli tells Athrun
that she'll be launching in the Strike Rouge, and he asks her why.
She says there are things that she can do and wants to do, and she
doesn't want him or Kira to die. Athrun hugs her and tells her he's
glad he met her. He then tells her he'll protect her and kisses
her. The mobile suit forces from Jachin Due attack the Alliance,
and the Dominion launches its Gundams. Murrue comes down
to visit Mu in the hangar, and he tells her he will come back victorious
and kisses her. The replacement mirror is positioned in front of
GENESIS, and Patrick sets the target as the Ptolemaeus Crater on
the Moon to destroy the Alliance base. He tells Rau that he has
to make up for not destroying the Eternal by keeping them
away from the PLANTs. Rau asks if that includes killing Athrun,
and Patrick tells him whatever it takes. The TSA ships
launch all their mobile suits, and Kira and Athrun dock with their
METEOR armor. Elsewhere, Rau takes his pills and prepares to launch
in the new Providence Gundam. With the new mirror in place, Patrick
has GENESIS fire again.
With
this episode, we see that GENESIS is certainly a devastating weapon.
It even has the power to destroy Earth, which is Patrick's next
target. Assuming he can do that, it means the end of humanity. Even
if Coordinators survive, they are starting to die out already in
the third generation, so they are definitely not the new humanity.
Patrick's speech and the cheering of the soldiers has quite a Nazi
feel to it, and that's not a bad comparison since he is also about
to commit genocide. We also see Cagalli's Strike Rouge, along with
Rau's mysterious new Providence Gundam. Who will he have a final
showdown with? A lot of people express their love for others in
this episode, and it's fair to say that some of them won't be coming
back from the final battle. With the final battle having already
started, who will survive?
