With
the war over, Kira, Athrun and Lacus settle down in the Marshall Islands with Malchio and his orphans. As the children play in the house, Lacus
prepares dinner. On the news, the Earth Alliance and ZAFT hold peace
talks to discuss the defensive power of both nations. Cagalli and Athrun fly
in on a Heli to have dinner and discuss events. She says that Orb was ravaged
during the war, and its people understand the foolishness of fighting
and how precious peace is. She says, however, that there are countries
that don't understand that. Lacus says both sides must lower their
weapons to reach peace, and Cagalli says everyone knows they should
be doing that. In a PLANT, Yzak and Dearka continue their work for
ZAFT. After dinner, Kira walks out to the shore and is joined by
Athrun. Kira thinks about his last battle with Rau and wonders
why he is still alive. Athrun says he wonders about the same thing,
and he thinks them being alive is a chance to make up for things.
Elsewhere, Murrue has a drink by herself and imagines that Mu is
with her. Sai types at his computer, and Andy works with Kisaka and Erica. Miriallia sits alone
staring at a picture of Tolle. Cagalli tells Lacus that going out
into a battlefield suited her well. Lacus tells Cagalli that they
may not yet know what they are supposed to do. She is about to say
something more, but the children interrupt her to watch the shooting
stars in the sky. Kira and Athrun walk away from the shore and return to the cabin.
Well,
usually once the last episode of a TV series airs, that's the end
of the story. With SEED, however, the ending was rather
abrupt due to some events during production of the series. Therefore,
this five minute epilogue appears on the final Japanese DVD after episode
50. It's quite short and doesn't really do anything on its own,
so there's no point in watching it by itself. Watch episode 50,
then see this for the extra footage of what happened to the characters.
It would have been nice if this special could have been a bit longer,
or if it had at least shown some more characters doing things. Perhaps
the final word on SEED hasn't been written yet.
Overall
Rating: No rating for something so short
