At a library,
Heero does research on Sylvia Noventa, the granddaughter of Alliance
Field Marshall Noventa. His arm is still injured, and Trowa tells
him to take better care of his body. In Germany, Relena and Noin
sail to a meeting of the Romefeller Foundation in Bremen. Romefeller
is an organization of European nobles that is providing monetary
and military support for OZ. Noin tells Relena to be on her best
behavior as a representative of the Sanc Kingdom. As the meeting
begins, Duke Dermail, leader of the Foundation, gives a speech.
He talks about how democracy and peace through words is meaningless
and that people need to be ruled by military strength for true peace.
He then introduces Treize to the other members and thanks him for
his work in overthrowing the Alliance. Treize talks some nonsense
about how God wouldn't mind if people were ruled. As they all talk,
Relena jumps on stage and says that the Gundams will come and get
them. Noin pulls her off stage and apologizes to Treize and Dermail.
Dermail and several
other members tell Treize that they've heard rumors about Zechs
rebuilding the Wing Gundam at the Lake Victoria base. They do not
approve of this, and they want it destroyed immediately.
Noin calls
Zechs, and he asks how Relena is doing. She tells him about her,
and she also asks when he's going to reveal himself to her. He says
he can't, because he's part of the organization that destroyed the
Sanc Kingdom. In Italy, an Alliance officer urges Sylvia to leave
the city before OZ attacks. Soon after, a squad of OZ Aries arrives
and attacks the city. When an Aries crashes, Heero and Trowa listen
in and discover that the Alliance troops are hiding in the sewer.
Sylvia is knocked on the road by an explosion and nearly run over
by Heero. He crashes the car to avoid killing her. The Alliance
troops find Heavyarms in the sewer and protect it until they are
all destroyed. Trowa destroys all the Aries in the sewer without
revealing himself. Heero and Sylvia visit Noventa's grave. He gives
her a gun and tells her that he killed her grandfather. He wants
her to shoot him to ease her pain. She says he's a coward who wants
the easy way out. He then says he's going to visit her grandmother
in Sicily. At the Lake Victoria base, Zechs detonates the Wing Gundam
in front of Romefeller Inspector Acht. Inspector Acht isn't satisfied
and wants to examine the wreck himself. He wants to expose Zechs
as a traitor to boost his own career. He does not know that the
fully assembled Wing Gundam is sitting at the bottom of the lake.
This was
a pretty good episode. After many mentions of the Romefeller Foundation,
we finally get to see them. They turn out to be a bunch of stuffy
European nobles who want to return to the days before the American
and French revolutions. Dermail and Treize talk a lot of nonsense
about God for no real reason. Heero's actions in this episode are
surprising. With the exception of Noventa, he's never shown any
remorse for killing anyone. Perhaps he's finally becoming a bit
more human. It also seems like Zechs is going to get in trouble
for not destroying the Wing Gundam.
