Episode 22: The Eyes of Scirocco

Review by Chris Guanche

May 21, 2001

Summary

Jerid returns to the Dogosse Giar and apologizes to Scirocco for not destroying the Mk II. Scirocco tells him it's not his fault because of the surprise appearance of the Zeta Gundam. Scirocco also says that Jerid is very lucky because of his encounters, and that he should believe in his luck. Mouar wonders what Scirocco's true intentions are. Aboard the Argama, Kamille examines the Zeta Gundam while repairs are made to the Mk II. Kamille spots Fa and Haro and chases after them. Fa doesn't really want to talk to him, and he has trouble believing that she's going to become a mobile suit pilot. He believes that if everyone dies fighting, there's no point to it at all. She also tells him that another new mobile suit has been completed, along with the Mk II's G-Defenser. On a transport ship, Reccoa prepares to take the new Methuss over to the Argama. Henken asks her to give a present he has to Emma. On the Argama, Bright tracks the movements of a Titans fleet from Gryps and concludes they're heading for the Moon. Bright and Emma see Kamille and Fa arguing, and he scolds Kamille for fighting with another pilot. Aboard the Dogosse Giar, Jerid is introduced to his two Newtype trainees: Sarah Zabiarov and Siddeley. He asks Sarah if she can kill, and she replies that she will kill only when necessary. He wants to see their power, so he launches in his Gabthley while they launch in Marasais. Their target is the Argama. As Reccoa and another pilot head for the Argama, they are attacked by Jerid, Sarah and Siddeley.

Bright orders the mobile suits to launch and help Reccoa. Emma heads down to suit up and finds that Kamille is already dressed for battle. He launches in the Zeta Gundam for the first time, followed by Emma in the Mk II. Fa wants to go out in a Rick Dias, and Bright orders Apolly to watch her. Mouar wants to help Jerid, but Scirocco tells her to stay and watch. He says he won't send help because Jerid doesn't want it. Siddeley grapples onto the Methuss, but she disconnects when Kamille attacks. Jerid chases Kamille, while Fa attacks Sarah. Sarah is about to fire a critical shot at Fa, but Kamille knocks her away. Emma yells at Fa for attacking without Apolly's permission. As Kamille fights with Jerid, Siddeley gets in the way. Kamille uses the confusion to kill Siddeley. Sarah freaks out and retreats, leaving Jerid no option but to retreat too. On the Dogosse Giar, Jerid feels like a fool, but Scirocco congratulates him on good reconnaissance. He also scolds Sarah for abandoning Jerid. She explains that it was the first time she felt the enemy's will, but she thinks she can handle it now. On the Argama, Bright welcomes back Reccoa and thanks her for delivering the Methuss and G-Defenser. Emma slaps Fa for ignoring orders in battle, and Fa apologizes. She says people have feelings, and Emma slaps her again. Bright says to not go too hard on her since he allowed her to fight. Reccoa greets Kamille and tells him to go console Fa. She then gives Emma the present, but Emma doesn't know what to do with it.

Commentary

Well, it's about time we got to see the Zeta Gundam in action. It looks like Kamille has no trouble adjusting from using the Mk II to this powerful new suit. Emma has received the Mk II as a hand-me-down from Kamille, so maybe she'll do better in battle now. Jerid's hatred of Kamille continues to increase, and he wants to kill him now more than ever. He's also not happy about Scirocco giving him two useless girls as subordinates. I say useless because one of them has already managed to get herself killed. Fa doesn't really seem to know what she's doing as a pilot, and she gets slapped for it. Maybe she's going to be the AEUG Slapping Girl now. And what's inside the box that Henken had Reccoa deliver to Emma?
